Summer is over, and fall has finally arrived. It isn't easy to overstate how hospitable Texas is through the fall and winter months as it is rarely ever too cold, especially for travelers. During this time of year, you can enjoy nearly everything Austin has on offer, including the Austin City Limits Music Festival, one of the city's signature events.

The Austin City Limits Music Festival is taking over Zilker Park for two weekends in October. Over the course of 100+ shows, musicians such as Kendrick Lamar, The Lumineers, Shania Twain, The 1975, Hozier and dozens other artists will perform on one of nine stages. Bored between sets? Check out the mini-fest for kids, sponsored giveaways, and scenic views. Don’t miss your chance to eat at the ACL Eats Food Court, offering tacos, brews, vegan options, and lots more from Austin’s surrounding restaurants. Available ticket packages include, General Admission,  GA+, VIP, Platinum, Y'all Access and Cabanas.

Break out your Lederhosen & Dirndl and celebrate the most authentic Oktoberfest in Austin this October...German-Texan style. The German-Texan Heritage Society will host a day filled with unique German food, beer, & activities to help fundraise for the German International School of Texas at Austin Pre-K & Kindergarten. This year, local musicians Yodel Blitz, Walburg Boys, and Off the Grid are set to perform. This is a family-friendly event with kid activities such as pumpkin painting and a bounce house. Tickets are $15 per person - kids under 12 are free.

Formula 1 Aramco United States Grand Prix

Rev your engines! Formula 1 comes to Austin with the Aramco United States Grand Prix. The race, part of the Formula One World Championship, zips around a track slightly more than three miles at the Circuit of The Americas in Elroy. The whole city comes alive throughout the weekend with affiliated events all over town. Make sure to check out the F1 Fan Zone to meet your favorite drivers with live bands, food, drinks and more. The Killers and Queen with Adam Lambert will headline a pair of Formula 1 concerts.

Chris Stapleton - All-American Road Show

Multi-Grammy musician Chris Stapleton is bringing his All-American Road Show to a town near you. Supporting his award-winning albums: From A Room: Volume 1 and From A Room: Volume 2, this concert is going to have some of Chris' most popular songs and ones that you definitely want to watch live. The annual Levitation Music Festival is held in celebration of psychedelic rock and its Austin roots. For over a decade, this four-day festival has featured over 30 shows at more than 10 venues. For 30 years, the Austin Film Festival has celebrated the work of writers, filmmakers, and artists and their unique ability to tell a story. This year, movie lovers will have the chance to view over 150+ regional, national and world films over the course of 8 nights. Some of this year’s AFF30! first wave of screenings include American Fiction, Finestkind, Soweto Blaze, The Trap, Grapefruit, Autumn and more. Mexic-Arte Museum 40th Annual Viva La Vida Festival and Parade

Take part in Austin’s largest and longest-running Día de los Muertos by celebrating Mexic-Arte Museum’s 40th Annual Viva La Vida Festival and Parade this October. The Grand Procession begins at noon and ends at 1:00 pm, followed immediately by the festival, where you can enjoy art activities, traditional foods, local artist vendors & live performances throughout the day. Admission is free.

Runners of all levels can take part in the 5k, 10k, or 13.1 half marathon Halloween Run at Brushy Creek Trail. This event combines the Halloween spirit with fitness - where runners dress in their scariest or silliest costume for a wicked good time. Registered participants will receive a free premium running shirt, finisher's medal OR a custom mug and access to a virtual runners community. Registration costs range from $37 to $45.
