August in Los Angeles is warm and sunny, and it is one of the clearest months of the year. With the ideal weather combined with the fact that COVID restrictions were lifted in June, leaving the city open at full capacity, expect lots of fun outdoor activities happening throughout the month.

Long Beach Jazz Festival

Jazz lovers and music enthusiasts will want to turn out for the Long Beach Jazz Festival from August 12th to 14th.  Enjoy live performances from various talented jazz musicians while you sit near the water, and in between shows, listen to and learn from wellness professionals for new ideas to improve your health, both mental and physical.  You'll have the opportunity to try some delicious and healthy foods, learn about various all-natural pain relief techniques, and more.  Tickets can be purchased here.

As a contest between locals and national barbecuers, BBQ Music Fest promises a lot of great food, as the cooks will be bringing their A game if they want to win. Beyond that, there will be live bands and DJs to complement your multiple meals.

Taste of Brews Long Beach

Back for the 10th year bigger and better, the Taste of Brews event is one that you won't want to miss! Taste some of the best craft beers and select hard ciders, seltzers, and kombucha. There will also be food from some of the best restaurants in the area. Tickets for the 4-hour session (noon to 4pm) starts at $40, and tickets are $30 for the 3-hour session (1pm to 4pm); prices will increase at the gate. Admission includes beer tastes, drinking water, and live entertainment.

Hard Summer is a massive EDM festival, where all of electronic music's various subgenres gather for a roaring music festival whose notoriety has spread worldwide. Watch Shakespeare come to life this summer. From August through September, see Shakespeare in Griffith Park. Each show has a pre-show right before each performance held in the Old Zoo section of the famed park. Admission is free, so bring a blanket, chairs, and a light dinner and enjoy the show!

Sizzling Summer Nights
Held at the Autry in Griffith Park, Sizzling Summer Nights allows guests to dance the night away as they grove to L.A.’s best salsa and Latin fusion bands. These outdoor parties also include free dance lessons with a professional instructor and access to the museum galleries. There’s a separate dance floor for kids, so it’s perfect for the entire family. There are also tacos, margaritas, and other light refreshments available for purchase.
