New Orleans July 2024 Events

New Orleans Celebrates July with Cocktails, Fireworks, and No Bull.

Average temperature low and high: 76°-92°
The humidity of New Orleans might rival a steam bath in July as it sizzles to an average of 92 degrees high, so pack as if you're vacationing in a clothes dryer, but don't forget that adventurous spirit. You will need it for the New Orleans version of Pamplona's famous event – the Running of the Bulls – where the 'bulls' are roller derby girls armed with plastic bats and a mischievous grin. Cocktail connoisseurs prepare to indulge in a worldwide libation celebration. Head to the Big Easy this July, where the only thing hotter than the weather is the city's infectious spirit.

Bastille Day Fete in New Orleans

Bastille Day Fete in New Orleans

The Big Easy is proud of its French heritage, so this Bastille Day Fête is a huge celebration that you won’t want to miss. A block party is held in the 3100 block of Ponce de Leon Street in the city’s historic Faubourg St. John neighborhood. The festivity will feature live music, food and drinks, costumes, art, games, and more.

Running of the Bulls

Running of the Bulls

Throw on your all-white outfit (with a hint of red) and join thousands for New Orleans’ version of Spain’s Encierro de Pamplona, but there’s one key difference. Instead of bulls chasing participants through Spain, roller derby girls dress as bulls, spank you with plastic or padded bats, and chase you through the French Quarter. This event is for early birds; registration includes a pre-party near the Sugar Mill. There will be live music, beer, sangria, and food trucks to get things going; the run begins at 6.30 am.

International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo

There will be cash rewards up for grabs, given to those with the best catch of tarpons that can weigh up to several hundred pounds. Secure your tickets soon.
