A Texas tradition, the State Fair of Texas, Returns this September

September is one of the most popular times to visit Dallas. While it is hot in the day, the evening and nights are pleasantly cool, making it an ideal time to step out on the town. Get out on the town in Deep Ellum or shop in the high-end malls of Highland Park. Dallas has everything a traveler could ask for and more. It is only a matter of exploring this wonderful and diverse city.

Dallas Observer Brewfest

Dallas Observer Brewfest

Try brews from local and international breweries at the Dallas Observer Brewfest. A DJ will be pumping hits while you wander from booth to booth sampling classic and unique beer flavors, from light ales to blackberry lagers.  When you need a break, check out the art gallery, play some beer pong, and grab a bite to eat from one of the restaurants touting their amazing menus.  Tickets start at $42.  All attendees must be over 21 years of age.

DFW Restaurant Week

August is a great time to explore the area's hottest restaurants because, during Dallas Fort Worth Restaurant Week, select establishments offer discounted, prefixed lunch and dinner menus. Some places will even offer wine and cocktail pairings to complement the menus. You will feast for a good cause because a percentage of proceeds will be donated to the Texas Food Bank in the Dallas area or Lena Pope in the Tarrant area. There are over 100 participating restaurants across Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton Counties in North Texas, with many of them extending their DFW offerings from the first week of August until September 1st.

The Black Academy of Arts and Letters presents the 7th Riverfront Jazz Festival, taking place Labor Day weekend. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy food and beverage vendors as well as top-class artists performing live jazz, R&B, soul, and blues. Some of this year’s lineup includes Norman Brown, CeeLo Green, The String Queens, Take 6 and lots more. Single tickets, 3-day weekend passes, and corporate or group tables are available.

Meet famous chocolatiers and try their confections, learn more about the chocolate-making process, and pick up a few new recipes to test yourself at home. The event is enough to satisfy any sweet tooth. Tickets are $17.10 for kids and $43.46 for adults.

State Fair of Texas

State Fair of Texas

Welcome to the most Texan place on Earth. An iconic event in Texas' culture, the State Fair of Texas returns for 2024 to celebrate 138 years of Texan pride. With a complete auto show, the State Fair Classic college football game, live music by artists from all over the state, national acts, and uniquely Texas food offerings, the State Fair of Texas is as big as the state it celebrates. Come say howdy to Big Tex, the 55-foot cowboy. Day tickets start at $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors. Season passes to attend all 24 days of the State Fair are also available from $50.

Dallas World Aquarium

Dallas World Aquarium
The Dallas World Aquarium's centerpiece is a multistory cylindrical aquarium featuring freshwater animals, including manatees. However, what sets Dallas World Aquarium apart from others is the aviary and the rainforest exhibit, where visitors can hold the three-toed sloth with assistance from an employee. Other exhibits feature giant otters, various reptiles, and amphibians.
