Smithsonian Folklife Festival

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival allows attendees to connect and explore cultural similarities and differences. In an effort to educate and historic preservation, cultural traditions, both old and new, will be displayed at the National Mall. There will be performances, presented research, curated exhibits, and even a marketplace with goods from international artisans. Festival events are free and open to the public. Celebrate Independence Day in the Nation’s Capital

As you might expect, Washington D.C. pulls out all the stops when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July. This year will prove no different. There will be many celebrations and events across the city, but the most spectacular will undoubtedly be the fireworks. Stake out a seat on the National Mall, or reserve a spot on one of the river cruises to see fireworks light up the sky across the District of Columbia.

4th of July Parade, Concert and Fireworks

There are not many cities more patriotic to celebrate the 4th of July than Washington DC. A parade will begin at 11:45 am along Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th streets. Attendees will then get the opportunity to celebrate Independence Day on the west lawn of the United States Capitol Building at a concert that will feature military bands, classical music orchestras, and celebrity pop and rock artists. The commemoration will conclude with a spectacular firework show at 9 pm. You can view it from the Lincoln Memorial, the National Mall, or the Potomac River in Arlington. This celebration is free and open to the public. 

DC Black Food & Wine Festival

 DC Black Food & Wine Festival

The DC Black Food and Wine Festival showcases African-American cuisine from local vendors and wines from black-owned businesses. The event includes music from Future Band, DJ Flow, DJ Quicksilva, YML & Friends and more, and Crank Crusaders featuring Raheem DeVaughn. Attendees can learn how their favorite dishes are made through cooking demonstrations, sample a variety of foods and wines, and engage with like-minded people. The event is a good opportunity to support and explore black-owned businesses in a festive environment.

 

Capital Fringe Festival

Capital Fringe Festival

The annual Capital Fringe Festival will return this year. You will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy unforgettable live performances, which will take place over a 11-day span. The festival celebrates and encourages freedom of expression and will feature over 100 unique, censorship-free productions across various venues in the DC area. Wine and Culture Fest 2024

The Hue Society proudly presents Wine & Culture Fest, the premier and most comprehensive wine festival. This event focuses on consumer education, brand awareness, cultural experiences and industry advancement all through the unique lens of Black culture. Attendees can indulge in various wines from different regions of the world.  Wine & Culture Fest incorporates cultural experiences such as art exhibits and musical performances for visitors. Ticket prices range from $100 to $550.

Annual Celebration of Bastille Day

Celebrate the Storming of the Bastille at the French Embassy's Bastille Day Celebration. The event includes a sit-down dinner featuring dishes from the Alsace region paired with wine and Crémant d’Alsace, followed by a performance from a live band, an operetta, and a silent auction. Silver Spring International Food and Craft Festival

Free your inner foodie and let loose your culture vulture for the Silver Spring International Food & Craft Festival at Veterans Plaza. This gastronomic extravaganza features an array of global cuisine and artisanal crafts brought to you by over 60 artisans and small business owners. Take your taste buds on a world tour with spicy Ethiopian injera, bold South American and delicate French crepes and macarons. You will probably find dishes that you've never tried before. Keep a discerning eye out for handicrafts, and you will be sure to leave with some eclectic souvenirs as well as lots of colorful memories. Festival entry to the festival is free and includes live music entertainment.

Experience a day of authentic, rich, and vibrant culture at the 8th annual International Colombian Festival. The festival strives to educate local and touring attendees while bringing the DC Latino and Colombian communities together. Look forward to a full day of authentic Columbian food, art, gastronomy, music, folklore, and more. Limited early bird tickets are $15 online, prices will increase to $20 at the door.

The Broccoli City Festival returns in 2024 for a two-day festival featuring the best of Hip Hop from across the country on July 27th - 28th, 2024. The festival is organized by the community organization Broccoli City, which promotes sustainable living and community engagement.

The name is Bond, James Bond. He'll have a medium-dry vodka martini, shaken, not stirred. The Aston Martin DBS from Quantum of Solace on display is his. That submarine from For Your Eyes Only is his, too. Bond In Motion celebrates six decades of 007's fantastic vehicles and gadgets, now part of the International Spy Museum. Join thousands of fans from London, Brussels, and LA who have discovered authentic props, virtual adventures, and photo ops. Tickets are only $12 and free for museum members.
