Feel the Old-School Excitement of Downtown Las Vegas

Feel the Old-School Excitement of Downtown Las Vegas
The Strip dominates most of the attention, but no Vegas vacation is complete without a visit to Downtown. Officially the City of Las Vegas or unofficially, "Old Vegas," Downtown is best known for the Fremont Street Experience, a five-block pedestrian mall, covered by the Viva Vision canopy, featuring the largest high-def video screen in the world. Wander in and out of casinos old (Binions, the Golden Gate, California and Four Queens) and new (Circa, The D and the Downtown Grand), while drinking and playing the slots. The Fremont East district is a hot spot for restaurants and bars, so make sure to grab a bite at Le Thai, Carson Kitchen or Zai. VegeNation has a 100% plant-based menu, just steps away from the iconic Downtown Container Park. A growing buzz surrounds the 18b Downtown Arts District, a hub for art galleries, thrift shops, breweries and hip restaurants like Esther's Kitchen and SoulBelly BBQ. Wander through the streets and snap a few selfies in front of street murals with the The Strat tower in the background.

Dive into a Las Vegas Pool Party

Dive into a Las Vegas Pool Party
The Las Vegas Strip parties after dark at nightclubs - and also when the sun is out at dayclubs. Most big hotels on the Strip have a signature pool party, where drinks, food and music come together by the water. Book a daybed or cabana and the experience is even better. Some of the top dayclubs in Las Vegas include Wet Republic at the MGM Grand, Tao Beach at the Venetian, Drai's at the Cromwell, Encore Beach Club at the Wynn and Marquee at the Cosmopolitan. These events aren't for the light at heart. The atmosphere is rowdy with the top DJs in the business enlisted to keep the crowd on their feet, whether or not they plan to splash around in the pool. It's important to plan ahead. Stay hydrated and get plenty of shade. The overbearing Nevada sun shines brightly over Las Vegas, but brings the heat for a pool party experience to make your Sin City vacation one to remember.
