While Los Angeles almost always gives off an electric air of culture, the summer months are when the real fun happens. One of the most anticipated events of the summer happens in June of each year, wherein a culturally diverse crowd gathers for the annual Hollywood Carnival. Hollywood Boulevard becomes a vibrant parade filled with stunning masquerade costumes and food, music, and performances from a variety of cultures. Celebrities have also been known to make appearances at this colorful celebration of diversity.

The Subaru Newport Beach Jazz Festival is scheduled to run from May 31st through June 2nd in beautiful Newport Beach. Music enthusiasts will delight in the impressive showcase of talented artists from both jazz and contemporary music genres. Some of this year’s performers include names like Babyface, Brian Culbertson, and Lindsey Webster. Attendees can also spend the day checking out art, apparel, merchandise and food vendors. Tickets are on sale now, starting at $165 for standard tickets or $285 for VIP private seating experiences.

It's a well-known fact that the film industry in L.A./Hollywood is huge, so it's the perfect city to attend and experience a film festival. The 15th annual event celebrates and explores new technologies in media and will feature screenings, including world-premiers, of over 110 films and videos, as well as $45,000 in awards to those in competition. Tickets range from $10 - $99 and can be purchased online.

Foodies will appreciate the diverse selection of local food trucks, which include Angelenos' Wood Fired Pizza, Daddy Ji, Flamin Hot Chicken, and more. Live bands like DJ HamCran, Humbug, and The Captain's Son also play at the event. At just $20 per person, it's a fun way to spend an evening in L.A., redefining the concept of dinner and a movie.
